Story

Our JustGiving page has now closed – we would like to thank all our friends and supporters for their overwhelming generosity and support. Whilst our fundraising has closed, you can still support the Alex Halliday Trust here.

Hello.

We are year 8 pupils at The Pilgrims’ School, and Quiristers at the Chapel of Winchester College.

On Saturday 15 June 2019, as our leavers’ project, we will both be walking part of the route from the Chapel of Winchester College to the Chapel of New College Oxford to raise money for the Alex Halliday Trust.

Winchester College and New College were both founded by William of Wykeham in the 14th Century, and still enjoy a close musical relationship that we have both benefitted from a lot while we have been lucky enough to be singing at Winchester.

On 15 June, we will leave Winchester College Chapel on foot for St John in the Soke after the morning service. We will then walk the ten miles cross-country from Dorchester Abbey to New College Chapel to attend the evening service.

Mr Halliday was our history teacher, head of year, and cricket master, who died suddenly in November 2018.

“He was a loving husband, son, brother and friend, and a devoted father to Georgina. At the age of two and a half, she is left without him. The Alex Halliday Trust has been established so that anybody who wishes to contribute to Georgina’s future educational needs may do so. Georgina had such a short time to benefit from his love and influence. The Trust will help provide for her future.” The Alex Halliday Trust

I really liked Mr Halliday because he was kind and funny, and because he loved cricket even more than I do.” – Charlie

Mr Halliday was a great teacher because he always checked we had understood and made things easy to follow, in a very patient and kind way.” – Louis
