Konnichiwa! Hello! We are 2 Japanese students hoping to represent team Japan in the World Scholars Cup global round in Athens. World Scholar's Cup (WSC) is an international academic program with students participating over 50 countries. This academic competition involves events such as debate, writing, and individual writing and quizzes to measure 6 different subjects. A regional round in Kyushu, the area where we live, was held for the first time this year. Without any precedented successes, our team members (nicknamed Lucy and Yuria) performed exceptionally well, winning first place as the champion team and also being the Best Scholar and Best Debater respectively. This was a huge surprise to the both of us, and we still cannot believe that we're qualified to go to Athens.

But we may have to give up on this dream. The cost of affording to go to global round is a big burden to both of the families, and neither of them can afford to go. We have prepared so much to earn this chance, only to learn that we simply cannot because we do not come from prestigious backgrounds. But our hopes haven't faltered.

This campaign is for our air fair cost, hotel and registration fees. Every single donation will get us closer to our goal. Not only do we want to show the world what we are capable of, and proceed to the final tournament held at Yale University this fall, but we want to make CHANGE. As the first from our rural region to represent Japan, we want to pave the way for every other student wishing for such an opportunity in the future. We believe us going is not only our personal success, but a pivotal moment for many.

We truly believe that our team members can make it and prove the world what these two girls are made of. With no tutor, help or similar past experience these girls overcame more than just a language barrier. I believe these bright,talented and extraordinarily students are the future.
