Help Woodalls to make a difference at Weaver’s Adventure Playground!
Woodalls is embarking on a community project for 2024 that aims to transform the neglected interior play zone at Weavers Adventure Playground into a vibrant and engaging environment for children. We need your support to bring this vision to life and make a lasting impact in the lives of the children and families in west Bethnal Green!
About Weavers
Weavers Adventure Playground holds immense significance as one of the last four adventure playgrounds in the entire borough. Back in 1974, local parents, concerned about the lack of play spaces for their children, approached the council. The challenge was set: raise £64,000 to secure a lease for the land. Together, the community rallied and exceeded expectations!
Tower Hamlets has the highest rate of child poverty in the UK today. That's why places like Weavers are absolutely crucial. They offer immense benefits to children, young people, and families, embodying values of inclusivity regardless of race, class, religion, culture, sexuality, or physical ability. By providing a safe and engaging space, Weavers helps steer children away from the streets and reduce the risk of being involved in knife crime.
At Weavers, children are welcomed five days a week, 48 weeks a year, with a variety of activities based on the 16 types of play. Here, they can explore, create, play, make, learn, and craft with a variety of activities catered to the needs and interests of children of all ages.
Weavers is run and managed by people from the local community. They provide a twice-weekly food bank for 60+ families and offer free meals to children from low-income families after school and during holidays – vital for many families in the area.
