I received a leaflet for this sanctuary (The Wonkey Donkey) about a month ago and I finally got the chance to visit and see the great work that they do, last weekend. On arriving it was closed, which surprised me as I had checked the website before leaving home for the opening times. There was a note on the gate explaining the situation, which lead me to this. The owners of the sanctuary were injured in the Manchester attack and they had to close the donkey sanctuary as there were still hospitalised. That was 5 days ago but it hit me hard as sadly these people that are doing their best to save animals lives, and give them a good life, almost lost their own lives. They will have lost income from their cafe and daily visitors, whilst being closed, therefore any help to get them back on track will go a long way. I have emailed them to offer help, but had no response as yet, which I'm not surprised at during this difficult time. Therefore this is the next best thing I can do to help them. I'm not sure if they are out of hospital yet, but either way, this will give them one less thing to worry about. Thanks for reading, and for your time. Xx
