    Story

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is run by volunteers who have lovingly restored the 9.5 miles of track from Duffield to Wirksworth. The passenger buildings are temporary structures which are now past their best. The railway is attracting ever increasing numbers of visitors and we must now upgrade our visitor facilities

so passengers can enjoy better services.

Hundreds of volunteer hours has already resulted in the line being fully restored however running a 9.5 mile railway is very expensive and we have become victims of our success. Packed passenger trains this summer has put a great strain upon our station facilities and we need to build new toilets, disabled visitor facilities, a new museum and booking hall together with a station shop and cafeteria to cope with demand. These enhancements will ensure we can offer a level of service we wish our visitors to enjoy and hopefully encourage more people to visit our railway and enjoy the beautiful views of Derbyshire along an unspoilt Ecclesbourne Valley as well as help us have enough funds to maintain the railway.

The railway was also known as the Milk and Honey line, a name which encapsulates its rural nature and charm and one which we are keen to re-create.

Thank you for looking at our page and we hope you will consider supporting our project. On behalf of everyone associated with our beautiful railway a big THANK YOU for your support.
