Story
We are WILD & WILD, in Congleton. We are raising money for a defibrillator to be installed for public use outside our premises, on Bridge Street, as well as training all of our team in using this life saving device to support our community.
At the heart of our mission, is the health and happiness of our community, which this is compromised knowing that there is no defibrillator on our main high street, through which so many of you pass each day.
Our goal is to raise both awareness and funds to be able to have fitted a Physio-Control CR2usb with Polycarbonate cabinet on the wall outside our healthy Coffeehouse & Kitchen.
The benefits of a defibrillator have no limits. Whenever cardiac arrest strikes, there is absolutely no time to lose. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a victim’s survival rate by 7 to 10 per cent... They’re that important. This goal was inspired after bearing witness to numerous news reports recently of people, including children, who have lost their lives as a result of not getting access to a defibrillator soon enough. A defibrillator gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest and it's an essential part in trying to save their life. To help someone who is in cardiac arrest effectively, a defibrillator needs to be found as quickly as possible.
April Wild, the owner of WILD & WILD, has three children and after hearing the news of a little boy who sadly lost his life in October felt a strong sense of responsibly to keep more children and families safe. April also lives with a heart condition called Wolff Parkinson White disorder. The biggest risk is for sudden death from a heart attack, which tachycardia can cause. She is inspired to lead the mission here and says: 'After finding out that heart disease is the biggest killer in the world and living with this condition, I feel responsible as a business owner to help in anyway we can. We are based in the middle of the high street so we know this will be the prime location for a new defibrillator to be placed. At WILD & WILD we are also such big advocates of a plant based diet as it's been shown to be the only diet that can reverse heart disease. Our team are super excited to work together to raise funds for this critical piece of medical equipment.'
With around 30,000 people each year suffering a sudden cardiac arrest it is imperative that bystanders know how to respond. A cardiac arrest can affect anyone at any time – from young children at school, to adults when they’re at home, work or out in public places. Without the correct treatment, cardiac arrests are often fatal with The British Heart Foundation’s figures revealing that only one in ten victims survive. However, the chance of surviving a cardiac arrest jumps from 6% to 74% if the casualty is in a shockable rhythm and a defibrillator is deployed within 3 minutes, so it is important you know how to use one.
Please join us on our journey to keep Congleton safe and donate whatever you can towards this cause.
We're grateful for you all!
