Wiktorek was born with one of the most severe congenital heart defects in the world. He lives with half a heart, the left part of his heart has not developed, he only has the right ventricle. Since birth, he has been bravely fighting for life and every day he shows us how strong he is. Wiktorek has already undergone 3 open heart surgeries in his short life. He spent the first year of his life in one of the Polish hospitals where the first two operations took place. During the second operation, the heart surgeon who performed it damaged Wiktor's diaphragm, which caused a number of serious complications and as a result, it was necessary to install a tracheostomy tube so that Wiktor could breathe. After a year spent in the cardiology ward, he was discharged home to the care of a home hospice, where we were to await the death of our beloved child. We couldn't come to terms with the fact that our child was dying and there was nothing more that could be done for him in our country, so we started looking for help outside Poland. Subsequent clinics in Europe refused due to Wiktorek's serious condition. There were only a few clinics in the USA to which we sent documents, only Dr. Frank Hanley from Stanford Childrens Hospital undertook Wiktor's surgery. He planned two heart surgeries, unfortunately the amount we have to pay for both surgeries is over PLN 16.5 million. The amount seems impossible to raise. However, thanks to people with big hearts, we managed to collect the first PLN 10 million and the first and third surgery in Wiktor's life took place on October 24, 2023. It was a success and significantly improved Wiktor's functioning. Unfortunately, we only received half a year to collect the missing PLN 6.5 million for the second operation. To maintain the good effects of the first surgery and allow Wiktor to lead a healthy life, the second surgery must take place no later than May this year. Time is running out and we are still missing PLN 3.5 million.
