Story
You may have seen the previous fundraiser by www.hifipig.com to buy a wheelchair for Ricky Sterling in the USA:
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Hifipigwheelchairforricky
This young man has been a paraplegic nearly his whole life after falling from a 6th floor window when he was just 2 years old. Since 2009, Ricky's insurance have only been able to supply him with a very non-manoeuvrable, hospital type wheelchair that is not suited to his needs, this makes his life uncomfortable and difficult. Add to that the fact that the tyres are now coming off his chair and you can understand how this is impacting on Ricky's life.
We fell a little short of our target, despite many kind donations of money and great prizes.
However, due to being very busy getting married (twice, but to the same lady) Mat Weisfeld, of turntable manufacturer VPI Industries wanted to donate a very special prize but could not get the details to us in time to add it to the raffle.
So we are doing it again!
We are about 700$ short of getting Ricky the basic wheelchair but the more we can raise, the more extras he can have on it to make life easier for him, so we have set a £1500 target.
The turntable is a Special Edition VPI Player in Black with 9 inch gimballed yoke tonearm, pre-mounted ortofon 2M red, built in headphone amp, phono stage, and MDF platter on an oil bath Jacob's tapper bearing. You can't buy the turntable in this finish, so it is very special indeed. The retail version sells for 1200$ in the USA. The TT will be made for you and adapted to whichever country you live in.
The raffle is the same format. Donate a minimum of £5 to be entered into the raffle. If you donate multiple £5 you get multiple entries.
IMPORTANT: please leave your full name to make it easier to contact the winner, we can't enter you if you leave your donation as anonymous, keep your confirmation email as this will be needed if you win.
Thank you all in advance!!

8 years agoThank you all for your donations, we have a winner of the VPI Player Turntable, it's GARETH THOMPSON! Gareth, please forward your donation confirmation email to me linette@hifipig.com along with your shipping address and what type of plug you require on the turntable. We will then get your prize sent over to you! Once again, thank you all so very much, with what we have raised with the 2 raffles and Ricky raised himself we should have enough to cover the cost of the wheelchair!!!

8 years agoRicky has been for his first wheelchair fitting so things are underway! I have been in contact with the wheelchair makers http://colourswheelchair.com/ and we are all very excited about getting Ricky his chair. Ricky is only about an hour away from their head office so they will be able to add extras to his chair if we raise enough to get more than the basic model. Please share with your friends ans remember you can do good AND be in with a chance to win the VPI turntable. Thank you all!
