Story
Wiltshire and Dorset Deaf Association (WDDA) is looking to introduce Deaf Communication Cards to help improve the experience of disadvantaged people accessing services but need in the region of £1000 to help fund this initiative and help reach every Deaf BSL user currently living in Wiltshire and Dorset.
The purpose of the wallet-sized plastic cards is to help identify patients/customers/service users immediately as deaf and that there is a need for communications support. It will also include the 24-hour-a-day contact details for WDDA, so that organisations/businesses/healthcare providers know how to book a BSL interpreter. The cards will offer tips for people who have a hearing loss when speaking to someone who is hearing and tips for people who are hearing and are speaking to someone who has a hearing loss.
