Weʼve raised £751 to fund food and supplies for the occupation of Warwick SU #WarwickOccupy

Funded on Thursday, 19th March 2020

    Story

University of Warwick students have been occupying the SU Headquarters as a statement against the institutional racism and islamophobia that has been flourishing at the heart of our union. We are now entering the 19th day of our occupation as we wait for our demands to be met.

In the meantime, we have been struggling to procure food for all the student occupiers due to limited financial resources. Many of the occupiers are ethnic minority students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and we are struggling to sustain our occupation financially.

Please help us maintain our stance against racism by donating to our JustGiving account. This is key to maintaining the students’ high morale and motivation to hold out for as long as needed until our Students Union responds to our demands and tackles the institutional racism that they have ignored for so long.

We've won the battle! Thank you to everyone who has donated. You were instrumental in sustaining the occupation. Every donation was celebrated as a show of solidarity for our anti-racist cause. This occupation may be over, but we are still in need of funds. Please keep sharing our Just Giving page and donate if you can. Stay tuned. Warwick University is next.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us so far either through the JustGiving or by sharing, liking or retweeting our posts on FB and Twitter. We're currently on day 22 and the SU still have not met a single demand. As such we are currently planning to occupy over Christmas and the New Year; this will be a huge endeavour and we will need your help to pull it off. Please keep on supporting us in any way you can.
