I've raised £25000 to support funding for the interior furnishing of the John Jenkins Community Hub.

The completion of the Community Hub is getting closer but help is now needed to help with funding of the empty upstairs space to turn it into a relaxed and inspiring space for local community and charitable groups to enjoy.
In particular we are looking to furnish the hub with comfortable sofas & armchairs for users to relax, engage and connect. But that's not all - there are also plans to create a flexible cafe/restaurant style seating area to further enhance this amazing development.
The connection with the city of Portsmouth is what this is all about. It is anticipated that every year the hub will host up to 40 thousand Portsmouth adults & children across many different activities with diverse abilities.
And of course, the hub is named after one of the city's best loved D-Day veterans, John Jenkins. John landed on Gold Beach in 1944 as part of the Allied invasion of Normandy and died in Dec 2019, a month after his 100th birthday. He was well known across the city and gained global fame after he stood on the same stage as the late HM Queen and many heads of states, when he paid his own moving tribute to the 75th Anniversary of D Day.
The 8oth anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy Campaign will be at the same time as the Walk The Island event and it would be a fitting tribute to John if we could achieve our target.
