My dear mum passed away last June, 20th June this year will be the first anniversary and myself and my four children are dreading it. We are going on a break to a holiday park in Wales to spend some quality family time together and I'm planning on getting the kids to write notes and attach to balloons to send to their granny. My mum was only 50 when she passed, sadly she struggled with her demon (alcohol) for many years and her liver and kidneys gave up. I have some of her ashes and I'd love to have some jewellery made for my children with her ashes as a memory and keepsake but funds are low. Any help would be so much appreciated. Whatever is raised I'm going to donate half to The alexandra unit at Dumfries royal infirmary who looked after and cared for my mum during her last week on earth. The staff were so fantastic and understanding and nothing was to much trouble for them. They treated my mum like she was still a living person and not just a brain dead human being which sadly at the end she was. The work they do in the end of life unit is so important not just for the patient but for the patients family aswell and they made me so welcome and cared for my mum in ways which I was unable to.
