After years of fund raising and getting the dance school to a great centre for performing arts, we are now sadly having to start again. When we took over the industrial unit everything we had raised previously was put into making the space into what we have today. 3 dance studios, a reception room, waiting room and toilets. The dance studio also doubles up as a performance space which has become pivotal in raising extra funds. It is not possible for us to take up our flooring and move it to Langley School, and we will be without as much storage room for all of our costumes/ props and scenery, so will need to fund raise again, we will be looking at around £10,000 just to lay new flooring appropriate to dance on. The storage spaces we have been looking at are out of the budget we have so we may have to look at reducing what we hold which will impact the children as they will now have to purchase costumes rather than hire them and many local schools that we provide with costumes for their productions.

Not only is the dance school used for dancing, we also have a team of fantastic sewing ladies that meet at the dance school each week to create amazing costumes for our shows, local pantomimes, and local school productions. They kindly do this all without payment and look forward to their weekly catch up, so it will be sad to see them no longer have access to the dance school during the day - unfortunately, we cannot use Langley until after 5pm as understandably they need to use the rooms during the day.

It has been very challenging for us to find a new venue to accommodate our timetable and size. We are very greatfull for what Langley school has offered. It might not be ideal to begin with, but our dance school is made of very supportive children, teachers, parents, grandparents and with the hope of the local community behind us we, we are determined to make this work and raise as much as we can, so Funky Feet School of Dance and Performing Arts can continue to be part of lots of people’s lives for a long time to come.
