Story

We are raising money for Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy's Ward 44.

Ward 44 in Victoria Hospital, over the past few years, was responsible for providing care for my father who sadly passed away in January 2022.

Due to fluid build-up in the body, my father had to attend the hospital weekly and, unfortunately due to the lack of availability of beds, sometimes later. Each time he visited upwards of 8 litres of fluid could be drained. If this was delayed, it caused him extreme discomfort and left him unable to fully enjoy his time at home, with his family. Unfortunately, with our stretched NHS, this isn't uncommon. Other patients will be facing that same problem.

Ward 44 did an excellent job at making it as comfortable as possible however. Turning my dad from a man who would usually avoid hospitals at all costs to someone who started to trust them and feel safe. With an amazing staff and great care, they made the best out of the situation and extended their amazing care to my family also. It is due to this I believe they more than deserve our support.

Our Goal

It is our goal to raise enough money so that patients, like my father, who rely on these weekly visits will have a dedicated room for their day treatments. Through this, hopefully their treatment will be more comfortable, swift and more time will be able to be spent with their families.

As part of this, my partner, Kira Sutter will be running the Edinburgh half marathon on the 29th of May with the goal to raise money for this cause.

Please share where possible.
