Inspired and creative kids grow into inspired and creative adults. In this time of unprecedented change, school budgets are very tight and children are facing a whole host of new challenges. Mental and physical health are of more importance than ever. This is a fund to provide opportunities for the children of Pollokshields Primary to have FUN experiences in 2021, supporting their physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

We are parents, carers, kids and staff of Pollokshields Primary. As locals we see how Pollokshields Primary, which is a marvellous school, provides a stellar commitment and care for the children.

Normally the school hosts two fundraisers in the year to fill the gaps where families are unable to provide opportunities for their children. This year, due to Covid, we did not host our Gala day or Winter Arts Fair and therefore the school is experiencing a significant shortfall.

A large majority of our families lack personal and financial resources to expose the young people in this area to new and diverse experiences in the best of times. This often leads to ‘bad behaviour’ when children do not have the opportunity to develop themselves fully. Imagine the frustration that you would feel if you had a talent and drive that was never able to reach its potential! What we are seeing now is a rise in mental health issues; anxiety, depression and more, amongst our children. Providing alternative experiences will help to alleviate that sense of powerlessness and give them hope for the future.

The school consistently and creatively finds ways to 'get the kids out' but this takes money. The school has found that 'the best way to raise attainment of our kids is to provide them with experiences outside the school'.

Here are the goals for the Very Merry Pollokshields Trails SO FAR:

---Kate E. Deeming will dance 50 km over the course of the week, keep an eye out for a dancing tree on the trails

--Jasper Deeming will run 10km

--Rachel, Sam, Eleanor and Zoe will do all the trails!

--Saskia, Charlie, Ailsa and Iona will do all the trails

--Lucie and Imani will do all the trails

--Nathalie and Otto will do all the trails

-Babar will be doing a daily 'Frosty Frolic' and adding bits on when he can...

Can you spare a few pennies to spur them on or can you also do some of the trails???
