Story

Myself, Ian Pert and Ronnie Russell (all Manx Grand Prix competitors) will be completing a humanitarian van trip to the Turkey / Syria border in February 2018. This idea is very much inspired by the late, great Joey Dunlop. We have Joey’s widow, Linda Dunlop’s blessing in associating our trip with Joey’s name.

We will be filling our van with the things that we have been asked (by supporting charities) to take with us - things like children's clothing, non perishable food items, toiletries, bedding etc. We aim to deliver what ever we collect to a refugee camp on the Turkey / Syria border that offers particular care for children displaced from their homes by the war. These people feel like they have been forgotten about. We aim to show them that are people in the motorcycling community who care and think about them.

Although we have put some of our own money in to making this trip happen, we need support to cover ferry / diesel costs.

In an ideal world we will be able to raise more than what is required to just cover costs - in which case we will donate all monies received to Kings College London, UK Air Ambulance Rescue Services, Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund, ACU Benevolent Fund (Isle of Man) and the Manx Grand Prix Supporters Club.

My son, Jack, was involved in a serious road traffic accident in March 2017. He survived, thanks to the brilliance of the air ambulance service and the amazing staff at King's College Hospital. Hopefully as part of this effort we can give a little back to them and other amazing motorcycling charities here on the Isle of Man: Billy Redmayne Memorial Fund, ACU Benevolent Fund (Isle of Man), Manx Grand Prix Supporters Club
