I've raised £1500 to support the mental health charity MIND through their campaign "Rowing Together for Healthy Minds (RTHM)", UBBC & a new club Welfare Officer.

Who says rowers don't run!? The University of Bristol Boat Club and University of Bath Boat Club will be leaving their boats in the boathouse and putting their trainers on instead to challenge the commonly held view that rowers make for terrible runners. The clubs will be racing each other in a competitive cross-country 5k event on Saturday 1st February 2020 between their two boathouses. (Think mud, challenging terrain and obstacles). This is the first time the two largest university rowing clubs of the South West will be coming together in an event of this size and will be an exciting day of racing, with medals for winners!
The first category will be the "Elite Runners" and the second will be "Fun Runners", with costumes encouraged. This is the fundraising page for Bristol University runners only, (please see Bath's separate Virgin Money Giving page if you want to donate to their fundraising efforts).
Each club is hoping to raise £500 for RTHM (Rowing Together for Healthy Minds), a campaign in partnership with MIND UK, co-founded by UBBC's former club captain, Tommy Nicholson. We are going to make this competitive as well (because we are rowers), and give a prize to the first club that raises their £500 for RTHM. This charity aims to raise awareness of mental health issues within the rowing community. Alongside this, additional funds raised will go to the University of Bristol Boat Club, who rely on fundraising to support equipment purchases and day to day operations. We will also be looking to raise £300 for the training of the club's first ever Mental Wellbeing Officer.
