Story

The Ukrainian people are showing incredible fortitude and resilience but estimates suggest in the region of 15 000 lives have been lost (as a reference Britain lost 457 lives in Afghanistan). These losses place greater and greater pressure on the humanitarian supply lines. Every day people are stepping up to deliver medical assistance. They have received relatively little training and almost no equipment.

On the ground: Extensive bombing and shelling in the East of Ukraine has destroyed much of the infrastructure and sanitation systems. This means that the people have little clean running water. Many vehicles and road networks have been destroyed so the people have limited ability to evacuate casualties .

Our convoy will deliver replacement casualty evacuation vehicles and critical care medical equipment to the areas that many major charity organisations are unable to get to.

The boil in a bag ration packs enable those in the worst affected areas to eat high energy food without the reliance on a local water supply.

Influence and morale: The convoy will show Ukrainian citizens that they are not alone and will create a sustainable pattern and supply line that will enable the local volunteers to be part of their own solution.

Why should you care? We have been primarily motivated by the humanitarian effect of a foreign aggressor simply taking a country in this modern era. There are however very real consequences for the UK. Fuel prices will continue to accelerate and European countries are having to turn back to fossil fuels in order to close the energy gap.

Ukraine provides over 40% of the worlds export grain and fertiliser supplies. Currently vast global food supplies are sitting in silos and ships at the port of Odessa. The longer this conflict continues the more likely it is that the cost of global food supplies increases and permanent damage means they may not recover.
