I've raised £1000 to support the MY Breast Cancer Support group and help fund more of their community activities & services.

Unite Dance Company are super excited to be performing for the MY Breast Cancer Support Group this May, and as a team we have decided to help raise even more funds for the group.
One thing we will be doing to raise money is a sponsored walk this April, as well as a fundraiser dance class and coffee morning which you can find out more by clicking here
Instead of us all doing individual sponsorship we have decided to set up this one Just Giving page for those who would like to and are able to donate. We are super appreciative of any donations made, and would love to be able to donate as much as possible to Sara and the MY Breast Cancer Support Group at their Fundraising Ball this May.
“MY Breast Cancer Support Group” is a patient led support group welcoming all ages of people living with primary or secondary breast cancer. We are supported by hospital breast care teams who provide updates on treatments, trials and general concerns. We meet monthly at a drop in facility in Horbury, Wakefield where we have various guest speakers. We have weekly 5k Sunday morning walks, followed by breakfast and creative craft sessions. Restorative Pilates with breast cancer trained specialist and dance takes place weekly at The Dance Studios Leeds. “Super Saturday and Sunday Wellness Days” are held several times a year promoting holistic therapies, and introductions to various types of exercise activities to improve strength before, during and after treatment. These include memory recall, the new you and how to dress. It’s particularly important where people lose their hair or their body shape changes due to surgery and side effects of treatment. Sara Williamson founded the group in January 2017 having gone through breast cancer herself. The group recently featured in a short film that has been nominated for an award for Yorkshire Cancer Research who support the groups work. You can find her story here.
Sara has sat on the Research Advisory Panel for Yorkshire Cancer Research for 6 years and is an ambassador. She sits on West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance, the Living with and Beyond Cancer workstream at Jimmies, the Cancer Partnership Group for Mid Yorkshire Hospitals and is often asked to publicly speak at major health events. She is an avid fundraiser for a number of cancer charities, and is the Chair of the “MY Breast Cancer Support Group” driving various activities and hospital improvement plans in West Yorkshire. Funding is always an issue but it is imperative to improve patient lives. We pick up from where the hospital medical care ends, or assist NHS staff and patients during treatment. We have a closed fb page with 250+ active members. We offer theatre trips and meals out particularly for those who are isolated or have numerous health issues with the side effects of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and numerous medications. We are proud to collaborate with various organisations and have the support of The Dance Studio Leeds. Every penny counts in making a difference. We are most grateful for everyone’s support be that volunteering, fundraising or helping to get our voice heard in order to support others. Every 7 minutes someone in Yorkshire is diagnosed with cancer. 56,000 are breast cancer patients in the UK. Sadly, people in Yorkshire are more likely to get cancer, than most anywhere in England. We are focussed on early diagnosis for better treatments and better outcomes.
