Story
On Saturday 22nd June I will be playing a continuous 16hr 38min live music set from 4:44am - 9:22pm - from sun up to sun down.
This will be live-streamed from my back garden in sunny Bexhill on Sea and creatively it is linked to other musical projects I have done over the last 2 years. However this isn't my motivation this time.
For fundraising purposes, think of this like a sponsored endurance run or bike ride, but with music making instead!
For 16hrs & 38mins I will be creating a mammoth piece of music!
I am doing this to raise money for the U9s football team I coach. We have had an influx of players ahead of the 24/25 season and now really need some help to get the extra kits & equipment required for the squad.
Bexhill United plays a key role in the local community, with youth football all the way from U6 to U18. I started managing a team over a year ago now, prompted by my son being part of the team, and have loved every minute of it - even with the challenges the role presents.
We started last year with a mixed squad of players. Some had played a little bit before, some hadn't even kicked a ball much. Our first season was a great experience - we won some, lost some (and got hammered a few times!), but the main enjoyment has come from seeing a group of children get to know each other and develop so much with their confidence and social skills. As well as getting better all the time at football.
Word of mouth spread about the team and we have now almost doubled the size of the squad from where we began - something we are very proud of.
But, the extra players need kits, balls, training equipment and, really importantly some bench coats for subs on the cold winter mornings. All of this adds up.
I appreciate money is tight, but if you can spare a few quid, with your help we should be able to get what we need.
If we are lucky enough to surpass our needs, we will donate money back to the overall youth set up at the club.
Thanks so much for your help, hopefully I will make some great music for you too!
Cheers, Kieran & the Bexhill United U9s Whites team.
