Story
As our loyal and kind followers know and for those new to Todd's Welfare Society we are a small NGO rescuing and treating street animals of Lahore. I myself am the Vice Chair of TWS based in the UK who decided to join TWS as the condition of street animals in the city where I grew up saddened me.
We at TWS rely solely on donations to take care of our rescues as we receive no government funding whatsoever. In a country with no animal rights and no organisations such as the RSPCA, street animals in Pakistan lead a miserable existence with no one to turn too should they be abused, injured, sick or starving. Street dogs are considered unclean, dangerous and are subjected to dog culling to reduce the population. We take in these animals, treat them and try to find them homes which is not an easy task. Those too vulnerable to survive on the streets have a forever home with us at the sanctuary.
We are running this fundraiser for the everyday expenses of running the shelter. We have had some serious cases, animals that would otherwise surely perish on the cruel streets. Currently we have rescues with fractured legs, severe mange cases and spay and neuter surgeries all these have put a huge pressure on our veterinary clinic. Rescues such as Icarus, who was shot just for trying to survive on the streets. Icarus not only lost a leg but also lost his faith in humanity. Averon the donkey found abandoned on the streets by its callous owners trying desperately to survive. Jax, a sweet and gentle dog found after many a search mission with a deep wound near his eye, in danger of losing the eye. Many cats such as Anya, ever so sick and feeble with absolutely no chance of survival on the streets. Little Nellie, with an eye ulcer, who will have to undergo surgery to remove the eye. We have many others who we could not turn away even during the current pandemic.
We have many permanent residents, such as Alex with a birth deformity in his hind legs, Jasmine, a paralysed dog. Also Brutus and Cara who are extremely vulnerable and unable to survive on the streets
Please do help as we have so many mouths to feed, vaccinate and treat. We are so very grateful to all the kind and wonderful people who donate towards our rescues month after month, we are truly grateful for every penny received as no amount is too small.
