Story

The Walk for Jock is a Linlithgow group who since 2012 walk the world-famous West Highland Way.

One of the founders Davie Deep sea Paterson started walking the way in 2008 with his great pal Les Pattison. In 2011 Davies brother John (Jock) and other friends came along to do the 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William for Macmillan Cancer. John enjoyed it that much he was keen to do it again.

Unfortunately, John was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas the same year and passed away in June of 2012.

The West Highland Way now became The Walk for Jock " it’s what we do".

Every year we have new enthusiastic people come on the walk and they all choose their own particular charity to aid.

Various events are held throughout the year and since it's humble beginnings over £100,000 has been raised for worthy causes. Including Marie Curie, Chas, guide dogs for the blind and pinewood school to name but a few.

We also are involved with Linlithgow marches celebrations and have a Deacon Andy " cooncil" Girdwood and My Lord Fiona Wallace.

It's a wonderful wee institution and have celebrity friends such as Still Game Actor Paul Young, Archie MacPherson, plus football legends Colin Stein and Pat Bonner to name but a few.

Thank you for reading.
