I've raised £600 to Build 5 Beds for poor families in Bekoji, Ethiopia. Materials will be sourced in Bekoji. We would like to provide as many beds as we can.

Story

On March 23rd Jane and I will be flying to Bekoji, Ethiopia with a group of students from Luckley House School, where Jane is the headteacher. We will be working with a charity called “Stand By Me”, https://www.standby.me.

We will be based in an orphanage and school funded by the charity where, as well as working alongside staff to entertain and teach the 200 children who attend the school and the 22 children who live there, we will also be painting classrooms, and building much needed furniture .

We and the students are all self funding the trip, but we are looking for additional funds to enable us to build as many beds as we can while we are out there - £120 will enable us to buy the materials, made and sourced in Bekoji, for us to assemble one bed for a family, allowing them to sleep off the earth floor in their small dwellings. (A bed also creates valuable storage space underneath!).
