Trowbridge Service Users Group is a Peer 2 Peer mental health support group. We provide a free self-referral service although we do accept referrals from social prescribing and mental health service.

Our main goal is to reduce the isolation created by mental illness while building social connection and confidence.

I personally suffer with BPD borderline personality disorder and live a life that majorly effected because of my illness. I could give up or stop living but I learned that with support you may not have the best life or even the one you dreamed of, but you can live learn and grow.

As someone with a mental illness I am in the best place to help others live their best life while understanding where they are and what they are going through and over valid advice that works. plus, with my lived experience I can teach techniques that helped me and help a person develop skills that work through them.

If I am honest 5 years and we are still here and even through covid we created support. I have no real idea of what I am doing I make links with community groups for space in return for services. but I managed to keep it going.

Now we have our own space which the opportunity to provide so many more services and options to helps. but that come with extra costs and responsibilities. And even thou we have a board, and everything correct we need help. Taking on a space of our own need to be furnished and made inviting.

We not in the position to bid for service basically because I am not willing to limit our service to a number of week and report a person’s progress against their metric. What we do cannot be measured by at metric. How much is a person feeling better about themselves worth or not feeling like an outsider worth? What is it worth to not feel isolated and alone in a place where no one understands? Or to smile and laugh?
