Iʼve raised £145 to buy a new Triple Pump IV machine for the Peterborough City Hospital Oncology Day Ward

    Story

While I was having my chemotherapy treatment, (which takes over four hours per session) I noticed that there were two types of Chemo pumps. A single pump and a triple pump and after talking to the nurses they said that the triple pumps were much more effiecient in treating the patients.

They only have ten triple pumps in a 26 bay Oncology day ward, so they need 16 more to be fully equipped. The only problem is they cost the Hospital £3,400 each and there is simply not enough funds for 16 more units.

I decided that even if I can raise enough money for one unit, it will be used twice a day (am & pm) five days a week, so it can treat over 500 cancer patients a year, which will save each cancer patient between 30-45 minutes per session.

When your treatment can take over four hours, it is only a small win when you get out of the hospital in only three and a half hours, but a worthwhile one.

      Update from the Page owner

I've now closed the thanksgiving page and I will receive it in a weeks time when I will added it to the rest of the money. So far we have raised a total of around £2,000 when I collect some monies from the football club and a local firm who held a Christmas Raffle. I have already donated a second hand triple pump which came from Southampton Hospital and I can get 7 more for only £100 each. They will need some sort of maintenance contract to keep it in full working order. These machines are much needed at the moment as new machines cost £3,400.

Thank you for the donations. Alf Hand donated his Posh Executive Box last night and we raised £300 on the in tickets sales. I've also raised just over $2000 from my friends in an on-line game with donations from all over the world, which was very humbling in so many ways. Two donations of $100 and $50 came from Malaysia from people that weren't even in our group, but play in a different team who play against us. I've managed to source a used triple pump at a reduced price from Southampton Hospital. They are good for at another five years use.
