Story
Sometimes it seems that the problem of climate change is just too big for anyone to solve. How can we stop global deforestation? How can we stop the use of fossil fuels? How can we get governments and companies to change what they've done for centuries? It can be overwhelming.
There is one thing that you can do. Plant a tree, maybe two. Give us some cash and we'll plant some too!
OUR AIM IS TO PLANT TREES IN WALLINGFORD, CHOLSEY, AND THE SURROUNDING AREA TO IMPROVE THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND TO REDUCE THE AREA'S CARBON FOOTPRINT. WE WANT TO CREATE GREEN CORRIDORS AND WILDLIFE HUBS TO MAKE IT AN EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL AREA TO VISIT AND IN WHICH TO LIVE.
We've been working with South Oxfordshire District Council, Oxfordshire County Council, and local parish councils to identify places for new trees, as well as working with private landowners. Planting a new tree on council-owned land can cost around £100. We've already raised £2000 but aim to raise £5000 or more in total. A generous donor has offered to match our next £1000 of funding so any donation you make will count double!
We will be holding a COMMUNITY TREE PLANTING DAY in Autumn 2020 so that members of the local community can get behind the venture and help us plant!
Any individual or business that donates £100 or more can have a dedication plaque attached to a tree to remember a loved one or market their enterprise.

Tree Planting
4 years agoOur project, in common with lots of things, has been set back by COVID-19. But we're pleased to say that we have raised more than £5000 and will be proceeding with two projects in January, and hopefully more after. On 9th January we will be planting in a field in Caps lane in Cholsey. If you have donated we would love to see you there. Please email treeplanting@prontonmail.com for details. On 23rd January we will be planting trees near the river in Crowmarsh Gifford. We'll put up some photos. Thanks again for your support.

Tree Planting
5 years agoHello tree planting supporters! Our first trees were planted in March on The Pound in Cholsey - see photo below. The Covid crisis has really shown how we need to connect with, protect, and improve our natural environment! As we begin to emerge from lockdown, we can start to get our other plans back on track! We've been given a further £300 grant so now we just need to raise another £875 to reach our overall target of £5000. We're almost there!
