Story

In recent years people close to us, family, friends and the people we meet and serve in our working pub environment have been battling with or have developed dementia.

We have seen, first hand, the strain and trauma that they and their loved ones have gone through .

Now is the time to make a difference and help those who are going through the same thing. The power that music holds for people living with dementia is proven. It has the power to bring people together in the here and now by providing a way to stay connected with loved ones and carers through shared experiences. It can enliven and stimulate and it can enable people to express themselves creatively.

But this is not just about helping those with dementia, its about bringing the whole community together, the young and old and those in between!

Our Intergenerational Music Group will be fun and it will help reduce isolation and loneliness.

We are setting up this Intergenerational Music Group in East Horsley because we believe it will make a big difference to our community and we need your support to do this.

We are going to cycle to Paris and back - from our pub, The Duke of Wellington, in East Horsley. We both love cycling but this will be a huge challenge that we hope to complete in just one week between the 15th and 21st May 2022.

We are yet to come up with a name for the music group - suggestions are welcome!

We will be raising funds through The Loop which is a local charity, based in East Horsley, that supports other local care charities and community initiatives. The Loop will assist and help us in the setting up and the running of this project.
