I've raised £5500 to help combat digital poverty in Kent. Money raised will fund the professional e-cleaning of devices and data top-ups for families in need.

Story

Digital poverty is a real thing. The government's promised laptops have not materialised in enough numbers to support those in need. I'm a mum-of-three young children and I know first hand how important it is to have WIFI and enough devices to ensure that no child is falling behind with home learning. So many of my friends have only one device and more than one child. I know some people where four children are learning off one phone - this isn't good enough and I had to do something.

So, the community have come together, donating good quality used laptops and devices. Other people have donated money. I use the money to buy missing chargers, pay for service of the tech where needed and to ensure all devices are digitally wiped and cleaned by a qualified professional.

Then...I get them out to families who need the tech and have requested it through our website www.topuptoteach.org

So far, we've had over 100 devices donated. This number is growing by the hour and some larger companies have begun reaching out with very generous offers. But in order to process those devices and make sure they are fit for purpose, we also need the financial donations to keep coming in.

Thank you Everybody! What an amazing community we have in East Kent.
