Story

Many of you will know Tony's story and seen him raise 1.7 million for the hospital that saved his life Evelina Childrens Hospital. But now Tony needs help with getting him the best legs possible.

We have been lucky with his NHS prosthetic legs but as Tony is very difficult case with a permanently dislocated hip along with bone issues in the legs from growth plates being damaged and a fracture in his thigh bone healing in a V shape. NHS resources are very limited and we have been researching to find the very best for Tony and we have had explore the private sector and had a consultation and advice and been lucky to come across the best available to us but at a huge cost. The costings for the next 5 years comes to £30,000 plus any clinical appointments and physio, rehab.

Tony was born a perfect baby in 2014 by the time he was 6 weeks old he was on life support and fighting for his life after his birth parents had cruelly broken every limb and other parts of his body, they had left him upto 10 days in agony and his tiny fragile body had given up and was ravaged by sepsis, toxic shock and multi organ failure. We adopted him in 2016 and sadly had to make the heart wrenching decision to have both his legs amputated as they failed to heal and to give him any chance of ever being able to walk.

During lockdown Tony set about a mission to learn to walk on his NHS prosthetics after seeing Captain Tom. We set a target of £500 for the hospital that saved his life and to walk every day on his new legs and crutches. It was so tough for him and managed to walk 13.5km. Tony has become a national treasure in so many ways and we are so proud of all his achievements including changing the Law Tony's Law.

It's now time that we put Tony's leg first and we need to fundraise before we can start this part of his next journey. The prosthesis we are hoping Tony can use is an incredible one called "Very Good Knee" which is used all over the world https://www.verygoodknee.com
