My name is Tom Parker and I've been bouldering for 8 years now. The amount of people doing has grown tremendous amounts. i would be going to a centre in London with my friends and there would be no more than 10 other people there. Now when I go to that same centre it is packed with well over 100 other people there. The sport has literally gone from extreme to mainstream and with it becoming an Olympic sport in 2020, everyone will want to start bouldering.
The sad thing is, there are no boulder centres in or anywhere near Southend. The closest are the ones in London, which makes visiting them for a day a £40+ day out.
My aim is to open a Bouldering and Rock climbing centre in Southend so more experienced climbers from the area can practice regularly and people who want to get into the sport have a much easier access to it.
the funds here will go towards equipment, building the wall and other expenses such as insurance, advertising etc.
