Renovation of the Church Organ in Our Beautiful Little Somerset Church
I am church warden of this delightful church in the middle of the Somerset countryside at Tolland, and took on the wardenship in 2013, to help stop the church from closing. It is the last communal building in our village. I am also 1 of the organists and so am very aware of the need to renovate the church organ as its deterioration, the squeaks and groans, are worsening- (nothing to do with my playing!). To start the fund raising for this, I have hatched an idea to do a pilgrimage, a sponsored walk, following the Mary and Michael Pilgrims Way from Taunton to Glastonbury, over 10 days or so, a distance of approximately 30 miles , starting on the day after my 85th birthday. I would be delighted for anyone to sponsor me however small the donation, to get the fund-raising underway. Many thanks.

7 years agoWE'VE DONE IT!! I think I've walked 24 miles over the 8 days with a rest day half way. It's been a wonderful experience and very challenging for me walking 3-3.75miles a day through sun, wind and rain, especially the last stretch up and over the dragon's back of Wearyall Hill and down to Glastonbury Abbey. We've stayed with and been supported by some lovely people, and made new friends. Many thanks to all my supporters

7 years agoHalf way now after 4days walking. Having a rest day today for recovery and joining the congregation of Moorlinch for a celebration of the Sea - sounds intriguing! The key holder at Moorlinch Church has offered us a bed for the night. That feels like a real Pilgrimage! Many thanks to all our supporters who've donated, put us up, helped in any way.

7 years agoIn training - today I walked 4 lengths of Blue Anchor Prom with a rest half way. Beginning to feel the benefits of walking more. Chatted to a fisherman and watched someone swimming from Minehead all the way to Blue Anchor.
