I'm raising £5000 to Summit For Grange - To provide funding for Grange Academy Kempston

Why I’m Raising Money for Grange Academy
I’m raising money for Grange Academy, a special needs school that played a crucial role in shaping who I am today. As a former student, I understand first-hand the importance of the support and resources that Grange Academy provides to children with learning difficulties. The school not only gave me the foundation I needed to succeed but also created an environment where I felt understood, valued, and empowered to reach my potential despite the challenges I faced.
Through the TISGO challenge, I’m pushing myself physically, but more importantly, I want to give back to a school that has meant so much to me and to so many others. The funds raised will go directly towards enhancing the programmes, resources, and learning environment for current and future students at Grange Academy. This will help ensure that every child gets the specialised attention, tools, and opportunities they need to thrive—just as I did.
With your support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these students, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve more than they ever thought possible. Please join me in supporting this wonderful school and the special needs community.
Segment 1: Run (Helvellyn via Striding Edge to Glenridding)
The first segment kicks off towards the west of Helvellyn, where I’ll begin my ascent via the famous Striding Edge. This narrow ridge is one of the most thrilling and challenging routes to the summit of Helvellyn, offering stunning views and steep drops on either side. The climb will take me to the peak of Helvellyn (3,117 feet), one of the highest points in England.
From the summit, I’ll descend toward Glenridding, navigating rocky terrain and steep downhill sections, completing a 6.02-mile run with 2,375 feet of elevation gain and 2,600 feet of descent. This leg tests both strength and balance, preparing me for the next segment.
Segment 2: Cycle (Kirkstone and Hardknott Passes)
Transitioning to cycling at Glenridding, I’ll take on 29.5 miles of some of the toughest cycling terrain in the UK. This segment covers iconic climbs such as Kirkstone Pass and the steep gradients of Hardknott Pass—with climbs reaching up to 33% in some areas. Throughout the ride, I’ll climb 3,975 feet and descend 4,225 feet, demanding both mental and physical stamina as I tackle challenging switchbacks and technical descents.
Segment 3: Run (Wasdale Head to Scafell Pike and Great Gable)
The final segment begins at Wasdale Head, where I’ll embark on an uphill journey to the summit of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, standing at 3,209 feet. This challenging ascent involves rough, steep paths and rocky terrain. After summiting Scafell Pike, I’ll continue toward Great Gable (2,949 feet), tackling another major fell before making the descent back to Wasdale Head.
This leg involves a 8.77-mile run, with 4,650 feet of elevation gain and a similar descent, combining brutal climbs and technical downhills. By the end, the cumulative elevation gain from all segments will match some of the toughest mountain challenges.
Challenge Summary:
Total Running Distance: 14.79 miles
Total Cycling Distance: 29.5 miles
Total Elevation Gain: 11,000 feet
Total distance covered: 44.29 miles
I intend to complete this challenge in the fastest possible time, and while a date has not yet been confirmed, I plan to undertake the TISGO challenge in summer 2025. Every donation will help provide vital support for Grange Academy, ensuring students with special needs receive the resources and care they deserve.
