Me and Matt have set ourselves a challenge! I've signed up to run the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon (26.2 miles) on the 14th May 2023 and Matt is taking on Runs and Roses (a 7hr Time Challenge event) on the 5th March 2023 to raise money for the Middleton in Teesdale sports clubs (Middleton in Teesdale Cricket Club, Middleton Wanderers FC and Middleton Wanderers Walking Football Club).

There are a couple of reasons why we've chosen these clubs, one being my Poppop (Colin Lee-Shield), who was one of the founding members of the cricket club and is greatly missed by us all. He loved sport and the community spirit it inspired, so long may it continue!

Another is my absolute love of being outdoors, which is something these clubs encourage people to do. Research shows that spending time in green spaces can improve physical and mental health and improve the social aspects of our lives, something we as a family have certainly benefitted from as well as many others we know. Whether a player, manager, coach, committee member, supporter or the ones at home ready to celebrate or commiserate with them, these clubs have had a positive impact!

And, as they continue to grow I am sure we'll see even more people benefit from their successes - but, they can't continue and grow without support!
