I've raised £10000 to help improve the Tenzing Norgay School in Kakgot, Nepal.

In September 2024 we will be attempting to set a new Guinness World Record for the 'Highest Bike Ride' in a remote region of western Nepal above the village of Kakgot. The attempt will focus attention on this small community where appalling living conditions and poverty prevail.
At the primary school, children aged 4-10 are taught in classrooms that have bare brick walls with no insulation and small wooden windows with no glazing. There is no heating and limited solar powered lighting. It is hard to comprehend the misery of learning in such conditions where temperatures are often below zero.
In 2022 Neil Laughton received life saving shelter for his climbing team in these classrooms after horrendous weather conditions forced the abandonment of the first attempt at the 'Highest Bike Ride' on Mount Putha Hiunchuli. He asked how he could thank the community for their kindness and the answer was a request for computers for the school. These were subsequently delivered along with a bank of solar panels.
But without the right expertise and internet connection the computers value is limited. This year we aim to raise enough money to provide a Starlink Internet connection and IT training and enhance the school computer system so the teaching can make a giant leap forwards into the 21st century.
Please help us achieve this and more; if we can raise enough to glaze the windows and create even a basic level of comfort in these classrooms these children's lives and ability to learn will be dramatically enhanced.
The expedition team will be led by Neil Laughton with Paul Clarke, Tim Maw, Craig Wiltshire, Giles Fairmann and Meriel Davis. Nima Kancha Sherpa and his colleagues from SKA, who have climbed with Neil on three previous expeditions will be supporting the team.
Please donate now and create a better future for this community!
