Story

Remember the old Beatle's song lyrics "will you still need me, will you still feed me, when i'm 64."

Well, I am 64, and i'm wondering - "will you still sponsor me?!"

During the years 2017-2024, I did over 100 Park Runs at Thetford, each time running all the way around the course. Over time, my left hip was deteriorating, but I could still run.

In late January 2023 I contracted sepsis, had four days very seriously ill in intensive care, and then over four more weeks in hospital. I was deeply grateful to make a very good recovery, and returned to Thetford Park Run on May 13th, taking over an hour to walk the course.

In June 2024, I married Alison and moved to Bury, and in January 2025, my failing hip was replaced.

Over the last ten months, i've done 17 Bury St Edmunds Park Runs, very gradually increasing the percentage of the three mile course that I run.

But on May 23rd, I am coming back to Thetford Park Run, to finally run all the way around the course, and if I manage this, it will be for the first time since January 2023.

I still work at Fulmerston Church, Thetford, where many local groups meet for craft, to chat and chill, for quizzes and cake, to do gentle exercise, to practice drama or music, to work with local agencies to improve the estate, and of course, to be together with friends and with others who become friends, with everyone supporting one another.

It's been a tough year for the church, with energy bills increasing and many rising costs.

So, i hope to run three miles non-stop, for the first time in over three years, so that all the groups can keep running and not have to stop either!

I'd love to have your support - thanks for reading ...
