Story

My name is Marni, I am Vicki and Cal’s best friend. I love their kids as my own and they adore me. Tifa especially bonded with me as we had similar interests and the same humour. Their eldest daughter Tifa was adored by her parents Vicki and Cal, they did everything they could for her and were completely devoted to her.

Due to her young age of just 14 Tifa will be having two funerals. Her official funeral for the over 18's who knew and loved her, and a second memorial style funeral for under 18's which is more appropriate for her younger siblings and her friends to say their goodbyes. Hence the fundraiser being raised to cover the cost of both. It has now been reduced from £6500 to £4500 as the family have been offered some services at no charge.

First photo is Tifa leaving for her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh trek. Second photo is camping with her mum and Auntie Emma. Third photo is with my dog who dislikes children but had a unique bond with Tifa.

Just to explain what Vicki has gone through but also achieved - Tifa had autism with PDA which was challenging for everyone and Vicki and Cal adapted their lives for Tifa. Vicki has fought for Tifa’s entire life for Tifa to be understood. Vicki even went to university to get a degree to help Tifa and other SEND children. Here is Vicki the day she got her degree - https://youtu.be/YK408xscg6g?

Vicki also did a petition in 2019 to raise awareness and make Pathological Demand Avoidance a recognisable diagnosis which gained over 11k signatures. The government gave an outdated response so Vicki responded instantly and got a full updated response. The petition is now archived but can be seen here - https://petition.parliament.uk/archived/petitions/261786

Vicki has made it her life's mission to help children who are autistic, with the PDA profile in particular, and has already changed lives. It is now our time to give back to Vicki and Tifa to help her and her family.

Unfortunately their beautiful talented 14 year old daughter, Tifa, passed away on the 16th October which has destroyed everyone who loved her.

Tifa, was such a bright girl who loved art, anime, animals, the outdoors, nature, and her three younger siblings. Sue, a foster carer, would have Tifa three times a month for respite and she was the first person outside of the family who really got to know Tifa and have a close bond with her. Tifa would get excited every time she was going to Sue’s as it was one on one time Tifa needed and with someone who understood her needs. Tifa absolutely loved going for trips with an educational group called Taleblazers - www.taleblazers.org.uk/. Rich, who runs Taleblazers was the first person on the educational side to understand and bond with Tifa. He helped her pass her John Muir award and her bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. He took her out every week to fun places but her favourite place was Dartmoor. She loved telling us about her days out.

Tifa with her Auntie Emma planting trees. Tifa planted a total of 43 trees in Treacle Valley, in Daccombe.

Tifa lost in her own little world drawing her favourite thing, anime characters. And below just some of her amazing artwork.

When she went to the shop she would take ages and we’d wonder where she was, she’d tell us she was talking to the cats in the street. She knew all of their names and loved her conversations with them, she even knew their individual personalities and would tell you about each one.

Tifa Wilding… where do I even begin. Tifa was a wonderful daughter, big sister, granddaughter, niece, and my friend, who touched the lives of those around her. She loved drawing, her anime pictures are amazing.

She was the light of our lives, the centre of Vicki’s life, and such a special and unique person. She was such a bright child, she completed her bronze Duke of Edinburgh award for camping on Dartmoor. She also smashed her bike safety level 1 and level 2.

We are all completely broken by Tifa’s sudden death, and Vicki and Cal need urgent help with memorial costs and any extras they need. We want to give Tifa the memorial she deserves to honour her memory and for her much loved family and friends have somewhere say our goodbyes.

And even more tragically she would have turned 15 on the 7th of November, with her funeral being on the 10th of November so we want to give her a big send off to celebrate her life as well as say our goodbyes at her funerals.

A picture update from Vicki (01/11/23), this arrived in the post today which crushed us all as Tifa's face would have lit up with joy seeing this as she was so proud of herself for completing her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh trek, and she will now unfortunately never get to see it. We are all so proud of what she achieved in her short but amazing life, and always will be.

We are also hoping to have some money left over to donate to the PDA Society as the PDA Society is the only specialist PDA charity in the UK and their goal is to try and make life better for PDA people and their families. It is close to Vicki and Cal’s heart due to their decade long fight with the system to help Tifa. You can read more about it at www.pdasociety.org.uk

All wording has been approved by Tifa's mum, Vicki Wilding.
