Story
We are continuing to raise funds for our dear friend Layth and his family. Our target was £100,000 so far we have raised a phenomenal £78,602. Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to Layth and his family helping to raise these funds.
On 5th August 2016 tragedy hit our beautiful friend Layth. He had a serious accident whilst out on a cycling trip to celebrate his 40th birthday. The consequences were devastating. He was tragically and cruelly left paralysed from the waist down and has been told he will never walk again. Layth's concern has been for the wellbeing of his wife, their three children and the reality of their future with no insurance to cover the costs of what's needed to manage their new life.
Layth is enduring the long and painful process of rehabilitation. He is now at home and learning to manage his physical needs each day and adapt to life in a wheelchair. Layth has shown incredible resilience and determination in dealing with the devastating effects of his accident.
Some of the funds raised so far have enabled Layth to make adaptations to his home, access personal therapies and buy a Genny wheelchair. The Genny has had a huge impact, allowing Layth to get out of the house & move safely over paths and uneven terrain. Being able to hold his children's hands whilst out in the Genny is priceless.
Layth is accessing therapies to assist with pain management, muscle strengthening and flexibility, fundamental for his physical and mental health. He is actively researching ground breaking treatments for paraplegia in the hope he can access a suitable programme of treatment to improve his quality of life.
Layth has amazed his family and friends in the way he has faced this life changing event. He is remarkable and an inspiration to all of us. We are here to give Layth and his family ongoing support on this difficult and unpredictable road ahead by raising funds on this page. Any donation will be gratefully received.
