Story

The Manchester 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness is a relay run consisting of 5KM laps, raising money for the Greater Manchester Mayor's Charity in support of the Bed Every Night Scheme.

The relay starts at 12:00 on Wednesday 13th November and will finish at 12:00 on Thursday 14th November.

A Bed Every night provides a bed, warm welcome, and personal support for anyone who is sleeping rough or at imminent risk of sleeping rough in Greater Manchester.

The laps will be completed in groups, running at a comfortable pace for everyone present. The laps start from outside the University of Manchester Students' Union and venture into the city centre. Each runner can take part in as many laps as they want, and we aim to start 1 lap within each 30-minute window.

We want as many people as possible to take part for the cause and are looking for partners for the event!

If your running club is interested in taking part, please send us a message! We are looking for clubs / organisations to have their own relay waves during the 24-Hour event. We can even mark it as your wave on the sign-up form!

Just £3 can help make a difference!

£3 can pay for a hot evening meal in emergency accommodation for someone who would otherwise have slept on the streets.

£10 can pay for bedding and toiletries for a person who is being supported by A Bed Every Night.

£30 can pay for someone to have a hot evening meal, a safe bed and someone to talk to in A Bed Every Night so they can get off, and stay off, the streets.

Donations go through RAG and then will be passed onto A Bed Every Night.

RAG stands for Raise and Give. They are a student-led organisation that facilitate involvement in charitable causes. They also support and give guidance for student initiatives for their own fundraising.

The Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity is an independent charity supported and endorsed by the Mayor, Andy Burnham, with the aim of making a positive difference to major social issues we face, including rough sleeping.

The Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity is the working name of The Mayor of Greater Manchester’s Charity, a registered charity in England and Wales (1180418).
