    Story

Marlborough House School families will once again be competing in the annual Bewl Water Dragon Boat Race on the 31st August. We are racing in support of The Weald Family Hub, a local charity that supports young people's mental health by providing 1:1 counselling support in local primary schools. All sponsorship is greatly appreciated and will make such a difference to this exceptionally worthy cause.

The Weald Family Hub was established in 2018 as a community response to the challenge of declining mental health amongst children and young people in the area. At a time when 1 in 5 children aged 8-16 had a probable mental health disorder in 2023 and only 34% of children who get referred to NHS children’s mental health service are able to access treatment - the vital work that the hub does as a charity in the local community is more important than ever.

"Since we began operations we have offered counselling places to more than 250 Primary school aged children. The Weald Family Hub provides subsidised, 1:1 mental health counselling places delivered by professional counsellors to pupils in 11 local Primary Schools. The Weald Family Hub continues to raise funds in order to be able to do even more. Any donation received makes a real difference to the lives of children and young people who are challenged by issues of mental health in our community". For more information please visit: http://www.wealdfamilyhub.org.uk/

We invite all friends and families of MHS to join us on the day to support our teams as they race to win the coveted title! Any monies raised from our 'pop up' stalls will also go towards our fundraising total! It promises to be a day of fun, community and celebration and we really look forward to seeing you there!
