Story
On Sunday the 12th February, a devastating fire ripped through The Church of Ascension and the heart of the Lower Broughton Community.
Built in 1869 this grade 2 listed building survived two World Wars it was destroyed in less than an hour by what police believe was an arson attack.
Investigators and structural engineers are hopeful the building can be saved.
We as a community are calling out to everyone to please donate any amount possible so we can save this beautiful building and get it back to how it was. This building means so much to the people of Lower Broughton and we are truly shocked by what has happened.

8 years agoHello, Thank you very much to everyone who has donated, it really does mean a lot to the church and the people of this area. Last night Friday 24th) we held a candle light vigil to come together and show our unity as a community. It was very well attended with approx 150 people. Our community are totally devastated by what has happened but we are hopeful the church will rise from the ashes. Once again thank you to all who have donated so far. Jaime.
