    Story

Tandemonium is a Cheltenham-based project to get visually impaired people out on tandem bikes. People with a sight impairment often find it difficult to access sporting opportunities. Riding a bike isn't something that's readily available to us because we aren't able to ride a standard bike safely. The aim of Tandemonium is for people with a visual impairment to ride behind sighted pilots.
On Saturday 17 June, Team Tandemonium will be taking part in a sponsored cycle at Leisure@ in Cheltenham. We will be cycling the distance from Hemel Hempstead to Cheltenham, which is the penultimate leg of this year's Tour of Britain. This means that we will be cycling 92 miles on spin bikes. The money we raise will help to fund a small fleet of tandems and other bits and pieces that will help us to get the project up and running.
Team Tandemonium have been working hard to train for our sponsored cycle. Anything you are able to donate to the project will be greatly appreciated. We would love to be able to cycle regularly in the way that so many people take for granted. You can read each of our stories at the bottom of this page.

If there are any keen cyclists reading this who would love to take on a new challenge, Tandemonium are looking for pilots to ride on the front of our tandems. Riding with someone with a sight impairment will be a lot of fun and you would be given all the support and training needed. If you would be interested in becoming a pilot, please email us on tandemonium.bikes@gmail.com

Ed is 31 and lost part of his vision 7 years ago as a result of a brain tumour. He loves sports and plays visually impaired cricket for the county's team, the Gloucestershire Growlers. He is also a football fan and enjoys a jog along the Honeybourne Line. When asked about the formation of Tandemonium, he says: "I am really excited about the prospect of being part of a tandem convoy hitting the roads of Gloucestershire." Ed will be cycling the full 92 miles.

Ines grew up in Germany but came to Cheltenham when she fell in love with a Cheltonian online. They have now been happily married for several years. She attends a walking group and loves a spot of retail therapy. Ines likes going to new places and regularly travels around with her husband. "It would be a dream come true for me to cycle regularly again." Ines is also cycling 92 miles.
