Story
In 2009-2010 whilst doing my masters at the University of Reading, I met Jolloh, an international student who came from Sierra Leone to study through the British Commonwealth Scholarship. Jalloh was a fun and down to earth guy. During our time on the masters programme he was well liked by his tutor, academics and peers. In 2010 after completing his masters Jalloh returned to Sierra Leone with the aim of coming back to Reading to study for a PhD. In 2011 whilst applying for a PhD scholarship Jalloh passed away and left a widow and three children. The cause of death was typhoid and malaria.
In September 2012, I ran the Bristol Half Marthon and raised money to sponsor his three children (aged 4, 8 and 13 years old) to continue their primary and secondary education. The money raised paid for two years schooling for each of the children along with school provisions including books, school bags, pencils and pens.
I have created this ‘just giving’ webpage to raise money to help pay for their schooling. Education is regarded as the most power tool you can give to a human being.
Nelson Mandela said: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
I hope to pay for the school fees of these three bright and promising children. After speaking with their mother I was informed that they all are excelling within their studies and achieving remarkable results at the district and national level.
With this in mind, your donation will go a long way to continue to inject hope and ambition within these children to excel in their education and outshine their late father’s achievements.
Thank you for taking your time to read this Justgiving page. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
