‘FREE’ Festival events – but need your support!

We have spent months planning and curating a programme of more than 30 events for this year’s Swindon Festival of Literature, 3rd – 9th May 2021.

We have booked a sizzling line up of authors and performers, got excited, and are in the process of printing a full-colour programme.

Then, along came the Government roadmap, with all its social-distancing restrictions, to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

As a result, and for the good of the nation, all live events in May, such as our festival, have had to be cancelled.

But, at Lower Shaw Farm, www.lowershawfarm.co.uk , the Swindon Festival’s HQ, we are not keen on cancellations. We like things to happen, not not happen.

So, we got thinking, got busy, and have proceeded to do all we could to salvage something from the Festival, for ourselves, for our authors, for our performers, and for Festival followers everywhere!

We have reconfigured the live Festival plans into a virtual online one.

We have contacted authors and performers, and are either recording talks, discussions, and performances with them, or planning to stream them live, in order to create a full programme of virtual and ‘live’ online events for Festival followers in May.

We have decided not to make a fixed charge to anyone who wants to see, hear, and enjoy most events at our this year’s virtual Festival.

But this means that, even though we still have lots of outgoings, we have no ticket income to help keep the Festival going.

We now rely on the goodwill of sponsors and your generosity to help secure the well-being of this year’s Swindon Festival of Literature; and to secure its future.
