November this year marks the centenary of the armistice which effectively ended WW1. In recognition of this date, and in memory of the Swindon people who fought, died, suffered and persevered through this terrible time, we are arranging events around the town. As a centrepiece, we will be taking the colossal replica gun pictured above around the town, towed behind a steam-driven traction engine. Not only is the gun a powerful symbol of the terrors of war, it is a fitting tribute to Swindon where guns like this were made. See the picture below of howitzers made in the Swindon GWR Works.

Our first major outing is on Wednesday 24th October - route to be announced soon. If you see us out and about with the gun and make a donation, you will be entitled to a certificate (pictured below) based on one that was given to all Swindon serving men/women at the end of the Great War.

We are raising funds to support SSAFA - the Armed Forces charity. SSAFA, which was doing its good work 100 years ago during the Great War, provides lifelong support to serving men and women and veterans from the British Armed Forces and their families or dependants.
