I have a heart for the broken, especially women in recovery from addiction and abuse. Since 2014 I have been self funding to train and equip myself to become a missionary to women like this.

I have been blessed to travel twice to Uganda and seen first hand some of the horrific suffering that women go through, particularly in refugee camps. During my last visit in April 2017 I spent time in schools and refugee camps I was horrified at the living conditions, especially for young girls, most of whom had no education on menstruation and would just drop out of school at the approximate age of 14. Often they were abused by a family member resulting in teenage pregnancies.

I spent time with these young women and they opened up telling me stories of having been exploited in order to progress both in school and in work. I witnessed children being whipped by a head master for being a few minutes late to class. I felt so powerless and they appeared so vulnerable.

I did take part in workshops with members of the Church where we were able to look at why things were as they were in these refugee camps. Mindset seemed to be the biggest hurdle as these women's stories unfolded and it was obvious that most of them had been abused and neglected themselves. Every woman came away from these workshops with a desire to go back to their churches and deliver these same workshops with their teachers. There is hope!

This experience confirmed my vision to help more women in these situations, but in order to be effective I need further training. That is why I want to invite you to support me on this journey.
