Story
If you've been watching the news over the past few days, you're sure to have seen the terrible pictures coming out of California. Wildfires have been raging across the northern part of state and the wine community has been severely hit. Historic vineyards have been destroyed and, more importantly, many people have lost their lives, their homes, or their livelihoods.
The money raised will be shared between the following three funds:
Sonoma County Resilience Fund - the emergency fund set up through the Community Foundation of Sonoma County, a 501c3 that supports local Sonoma County charities and has been doing so for over 30 years. They have the ability to get funds where they are needed most, at the individual level, quickly and effectively. Through the local charities they will fund a variety of needs from food distribution to shelter to health services.
Napa Valley Community Fund - started after the earthquake in 2014, this fund is similar to the Sonoma Fund in that it delivers a variety of support (shelter, food, clothes) as needed.
The Community Foundation of Mendocino County - The Foundation will provide immediate response grants to North Coast Opportunities, Inc. (NCO). Due to fires in Lake County over the past three years, NCO has developed a fair, efficient, and transparent process to distribute needed relief funds to individuals and families affected by the fires. We are grateful that they have a system in place to ensure our community members will get the help they need.
