I'm raising £50000 to complete Amazon Summit to Sea

The most amazing journey of water on The Planet . To follow the Amazon River from its highest source, the summit of Volcano Chimborazo, the highest point in Earth.
We made our first attempt of Amazon Summit to Sea in 2023. Having summitted the Chimborazo on the second attempt (bad weather), we travelled by foot, rope and canoe down many tributaries, eventually into the Amazon Basin.
We had descended from the high Andes mountains, into the the rainforest, exploring remote wilderness and experiencing amazing cultures.
On July 30th we were attacked by pirates whilst passing a remote town on the Amazon River. Unfortunately, expedition leader John Bathgate was shot twice but the team managed to escape to the safety of an indigenous village.
We now aim to return but can only do so once we have raised enough to do so safely, using local guides to help navigate through difficult zones in one of the most dangerous parts of the world.
We are former Royal Marine Commandos with green lids and green minds. Through Summit to Sea Charity, we aim to raise awareness for environmental issues and emphasize the connection between mental health & spending time outdoors, achieving this through global social & environmental expeditions.
40% of donations have already been given to 3 charities totalling 1568.92. (Rainforest Concern, Royal Marines Charity and RV1UK.) We're now supporting The Peru Mission, (UK Charity 1145812) who help provide educational facilities to children in remote communities. This could help vulnerable children avoid activities like illegal logging and mining and piracy.
Thanks so much for your support! Every donation will help.
