Sue Whitehead was a legendary figure at Abbey Hey, with a career that spanned 4 decades! In that time, she touched the lives of and helped to educate more than 10,000 children being particularly passionate that any vulnerable children in need receive the care and nurturing they required. She was loyal friend and trusted shoulder to the many colleagues she worked with.

Sadly, after a lengthy battle with Motor Neurone Disease, Mrs Whitehead passed away last December. We at Abbey Hey, however, will never forget her service and friendship and with that in mind think it fitting to create a memorial on the school grounds.

To raise the funds for this memorial and donate any additional proceeds to MND Association, the staff at Abbey Hey would like to pledge to undertaking a collective 1000 miles worth of exercise for the whole of March.

MARCHING 1000 MILES IN MARCH!!!

The staff will don cycling shorts, running gear and walking boots to get fit and get raising the cash for Sue. We hope it will be a great bonding experience for us all and I think being the proud woman Mrs Whitehead was of her appearance- I think she will appreciate the effort too. Even if she is having a giggle at our expense whilst applying her lippy and munching copious amounts of chocolate up there!
