Iʼve raised £650 to help buy books for Amesbury Archer Primary School library

Funded on Wednesday, 31st October 2018

    Story

** Update (3 Oct). Oh wow! You guys are awesome! We are on £400. That is just unbelievable. With the extra bonus we get from Usborne that will give us £520 of books. Amazing.

... but if we raise our total to £600... Usborne will give us £960 worth of books. How fantastic is that... I'm not sure we can do it... but we will try. Thanks Usborne xx **

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    What am I fundraising for?

I'm a mother who has a child who loves reading. His school, Amesbury Archer Primary School, have developed and nurtured this skill and given him, what I hope is, a lifelong love of books.

His school, like others, has a budget which is stretched and constantly reducing. I want to help by fundraising to buy some new books for their library so that children can enjoy a variety of interesting and high quality books throughout their time at the school.

I will purchase the books from Usbourne for many reasons. Firstly, they were the first books my son enjoyed. I think that everyone has heard of the "That's not my..." series. They are fun, timeless and interesting. He's now moved on to books like Compton Valance by Matt Brown. He laughs out loud at the crazy antics the characters get up to.

My target is to raise £200. This will buy between 20 and 40 books for the library. ** EDIT ** The fundraising has already surpassed my original target. Please keep donating. The more books the better!!! Thanks x

    What am I doing?

On 7 October 2018 I will be running my first (and last!) half marathon.

I'm a new runner. I started in April 2017 at the age of 42 using the Couch to 5k app with my objective to run the 5k Race For Life in memory of my father-in-law. Since then, I have completed a few 'real' and 'virtual' races earning me some lovely bling. I'm not a natural athlete. I'll never be fast. I'll never go far.

A half-marathon is 22k. I would never have dreamed that I would ever be able to run that far; I'm still having doubts now that I will make it.

By sponsoring me for completing the race you will be helping all the children at Amesbury Archer Primary School enjoy lovely books.

Thanks for reading to the end!

If you have a few pennies to sponsor me I'd be most grateful. If you haven't then I would really like a social media share!

    Thank you.

    Sue x

My JustGiving page is closing today, so I thought I'd just say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated. You are all awesome and amazing. In total, including the top-up from Usborne, we have over £1,000 to spend on books. We have started the selection process and hope to have the books on the school library shelves before the end of November. If you aren't on Facebook and would like a photo of the books, please email me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU XXX

Race day – 4 Why Usborne? (see Facebook for all more!) I’ve chosen to buy Usborne books for a few reasons. Number 8 – Sara and Usborne help by donating free books! The fundraising we have achieved so far now guarantees us a whopping 60% in additional free books! The Justgiving link will expire tonight, so if you were planning on donating, but haven’t got round to it yet, now is your last chance. Or, if you only read this in six months’ time, you can send me a cheque or bank transfer to go into the book fund. #runningforbooks
