Story

A group of us are doing a sponsored walk on Sunday 7th October from Lerwick to Bonhoga (half marathon distance). Money raised will go towards our local branch of Women‘s Aid, a charity that supports women and children who have experienced/are experiencing domestic violence. Shetland Women‘s Aid offers a variety of services to women and children, including a safe place to stay in the refuge, counselling, one to one support and advocacy. Sadly, like many charities, funding to Shetland Women’s Aid has been cut, and this has had a direct impact on the women and children who access the service and the staff who deliver it.

Money raised from this walk will go towards the refuge which is a safe place for local women and children who are fleeing domestic violence, play equipment for the children who access the service and training opportunities for the staff. We hope to raise as much as possible for this imporant and life line chairty. Any donation, however big or small, will make a huge difference.
